O’Brien et al. was given a mission by one of our clients, Massimo-Zanetti Beverage Group. We were to send a team to Hawaii to shoot footage of the Kauai Coffee Estate, including photo and video of the visitors center, factory, fields, roasting and cupping processes and much, much more.
The two dedicated photographers who embarked on the journey were none other than our award-winning Photo & Video Director Jon Abrahams and our stellar photographer/copywriter Katie Buchanan. Armed with their cameras, equipment and some sunscreen, the duo were off to Kauai…
As you would expect when landing in the “Aloha State”, they were greeted by Hawaiian singers and dancers. But it wasn’t all fun and tanning. There was serious work to be done! For the next three days Jon and Katie tirelessly worked from sunrise to sunset, visiting various locations in Kauai and shooting everything in site. Which was quite a lot. Kauai Coffee is Hawaii’s largest coffee grower, and even the largest grower in the United States, with over 4 million coffee trees grown on 3,100 acres. That’s a lot of coffee to shoot.
In between the photo and video footage gathered for the client, they were able to sneak in a few photos of their own, which we’re excited to show you here, along with a few of the amazing things they learned from their time in Hawaii:
- Kauai is known as “The Garden Island”
- Aloha means hello or goodbye….and a variety of other things
- Hawaii has its own time zone
- Roosters run wild all over the island
- The Visitors Center Café crew makes the best frozen coffee drinks. Hands down.
- And our personal favorite, Hawaiian pizza tastes even better in Hawaii 🙂

Mahalo John and Katie for spending time in our neighborhood. We love going to work surrounded by 4 million coffee trees plus the benefit of drinking all the free coffee we want while at work. Just like you, life is tough sometimes but someone has to do it! Aloha nui loa from everyone at Kauai Coffee.
